Post subject: Death of a pet

Hi All
I'm new to this site. I had a Dalmation for 14 years, unfortunately I had him put down the day after Christmas. Other than his chronic hip problems, he had a mild stroke Christmas Eve and was'nt the same after that. Needless to say my holiday was depressing.

I am 56 years old and this was my very first dog that I had ever owned. He made me very happy the times we had together. I am really having a hard time accepting his death. I feel very guilty about having him euthenized. Did I do the right thing by having him put down? I can't seem to shake this feeling of sorrow and depression. Are these feeling normal for some of you other pet owners?
